St Pancras Yacht Basin was built by the Midland Railway in 1869 to load canal barges with coal brought by the railway, mainly from Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. It fell into disuse and, after the coal drops were dismantled, it was re-opened in 1958 for pleasure craft.
